At Les Olives and La Marie, teenagers and families photograph their neighborhood in black and white and in color, then scratch, draw and paste to imagine its future.

the neighborhood
“Marseille is the city of La Marie.”
The group, a mix of teenagers and families, took up the tools of investigation and storytelling: start from the ground, produce images and words, then give them meaning through captions, storytelling, assemblage and layout.
Drawing and collage opened a forward-looking dimension: bringing the memory of the neighborhood into dialogue with the desire to transform it.

On black backgrounds, they scratch, draw and paste their own cut-out photos: nature, friendship, togetherness, rockets taking off from the buildings. The thirteen collages are shown here as they were scanned, in very high definition.
the wheatpasted exhibition
On December 18, 2024, the images and collages were printed large and wheatpasted on the neighborhood’s walls: façades, fences, low walls along the parking lots.
